Finest Lokta Paper from Nepal
Most of the people employed for the production of these fine, hand-made paper products from Nepal are women who previously lived below the poverty level. The use of machines is consciously rejected so that the traditional technique of paper production can be preserved and the people from the surrounding area can be employed. Thus many women got the opportunity to improve the economic situation of their families. In addition, part of the earnings go to associations which work to provide vocational training and further training to poor, underprivileged, and socially disadvantaged women.
