Valuable accessories from India

Most of the people employed with Rami Prints are unskilled women. Sheila Desai, the founder of the company, offers them a job. She is a courageous entrepreneur and currently employs 40 women in her company. “If you live in India and if you have the opportunity to create and to secure jobs, you are morally obliged to do so. For women it is even more difficult to find a job in our country. Nevertheless, they often must feed their whole family.”

Archina (32) is one of these women. Her husband is a teacher and fell severely ill. “I had to provide for my family alone and I am so grateful that Sheila helped me”, she says. Sheila has even taken out health insurance for her employees covering medical costs of up to 2,000 euros per year. Through their income, the employees can pay for their children’s education. The economic success of Rami Prints even allowed Sheila to employ a woman who is leading a training centre to enhance the women’s vocational skills.
