A Beautiful Story

Free translated: independence is the path to self-determination - the core that connects the Dutch company A Beautiful Story and the Nepalese organization Beads for Life. Both have the goal of helping economically and structurally disadvantaged people in Nepal to achieve a secure income and a self-determined life through professional qualifications.
It all started with a collaboration between A Beautiful Story from the Netherlands and the Nepalese organization Beads for Life.
Beads for Life was started by Nimdiki Sherpa, the founder of one of the first Montessori schools in Nepal, who did not want to accept that some women could not afford the school fees for their children. And so she founded the jewelry cooperative "Beads for Life", which was intended to provide the women with professional qualifications on the one hand and their own income on the other.
The sales and design company "A Beautiful Story", in contrast, was founded by Cathelijne Lania from the Netherlands, originally to help the "Beads for Life" jewelry cooperative in Nepal, which had fallen on hard times.
What unites both of them is that they absolutely believe in the principle

Independency is empowerment

- namely, that people are only free to develop their full potential and shape their lives in a self-determined way when they earn a secure income that is not simply based on the minimum of the national minimum wage. Both take the approach that this requires more - a living wage that enables people to pay all their running costs and build up additional reserves. Workers receive professional training, their children can go to school, medical care is provided, maternity leave is available, and much more.

All the jewelry, lucky bracelets and cards that are produced in this collaboration show that something wonderful is created from all these ingredients - all of them are handmade to a high quality by producers who are very proud of their work and can make a living from it.
